Pattern

Herringbone

Short blocks at 45° to the wall, set out from the centre of the room so the zigzag runs straight down your main sightline.

Pattern

Straight lay

Long planks with staggered joints, laid parallel to the light or the longest wall for a calm, continuous run.

Detail

Borders & strips

One or two border planks around the perimeter, separated from the field by a fine strip in brass, black or white.

What we do

The pattern sets the mood. The border makes it look built in.

Any good fitter can lay herringbone. A Bellissimo floor is planned around the room itself, so the border runs true to every wall, turns cleanly around the kitchen island and stops exactly where the hallway begins.

We work in luxury vinyl tile because it gives you the look of oak parquet with a surface that copes with kitchens, hallways, pets and underfloor heating.

Herringbone

Set out from the centre

In this dining room the border follows every step of the patio doors, so the herringbone field reads as one clean panel.

Cut-around borders

Bordered around the island

Borders and black feature strips cut around the island and pillars, as if the units were set into the floor.

Thresholds

Finished at every edge

At the foot of the stairs the border wraps the bottom step, so carpet and herringbone meet on a clean line.

Compose your floor before we lay it.

Choose the lay pattern, tone, border and feature strip. The plan redraws as you go, and you can send the design with your enquiry.

How we work

From survey to the last strip.

A border shows every millimetre, so most of the work happens before the first plank goes down.

Border running along kitchen units
  1. Home survey

We measure every room, check the subfloor for level and moisture, and note doorways, stairs and fixed units the border will need to meet.

  2. Design & samples

You choose the lay pattern, tone, border width and strip finish with real samples in your own light. We then draw the setting-out on your floor plan.

  3. Subfloor preparation

LVT shows any dip beneath it, so we level the subfloor with smoothing compound or ply before laying.

  4. Setting out

We strike centre lines so the herringbone runs straight down the room and the border is the same width at every wall.

  5. Laying the floor

Border planks go down first, then the feature strip, then the field, cut in to meet the strip exactly.

  6. Finishing & handover

Thresholds, trims and skirting details are finished and the floor is cleaned. We then walk you through caring for it.

Why luxury vinyl tile

The look of parquet, built for real homes.

Water resistant

Suits kitchens, hallways and cloakrooms where solid wood would swell.

Warm underfoot

Works with underfloor heating and feels softer and quieter than stone or tile.

Hard wearing

A protective wear layer resists scratches from chair legs, pets and everyday traffic.

Easy to live with

No sanding or oiling. A sweep and a damp mop keep it looking new.
